Blood during urination, Does it Mean Bladder Cancer and Kidney Cancer?
Dr. Dawn Harper, a health expert from Public Health England recently conducted a health campaign with theme "Be Clear on Cancer".
The purpose of this campaign is to make people more aware of the possibility of cancer in the bladder or kidney.
One of the most common symptoms of cancer in both organs is very easy to observe; the appearance of blood if we urinate.
Instead of immediately flush the water in the toilet after urinating, it is useful if we first check whether there is blood that come out or not.
If there is, although the amount of blood that comes out is very little, it is a good indication that we should immediately seek doctor advise.
Does the appearance of blood during urination mean we have cancer in the kidney or bladder?
Dr. Harper mentioned if this is not necessarily true given there are various possible emergence of blood in our urine.
For example, there are other health problems that make the urine has a bright pink or even dark red color like there is blood mixed in it.
In addition, the emergence of blood during urination also often will only appear occasionally so we should be cautious at checking.
He mentioned that 50 percent of the blood cases that appear from urination is a sign of bladder cancer and 20 percent is of kidney cancer.
In addition to the appearance of blood in the urine, other symptoms of bladder cancers are pelvic pain, swollen feet, pain in the bones and drastic weight loss.
